John Wolf is a Special Counsel at Maurice Blackburn Commercial who has wide expertise in taxation, business and family succession planning, estate planning and commercial and property transactions. His legal expertise has been built both in conduct of his own legal practice and his role as special counsel to the taxation division of major commercial law firms.
As special counsel he assisted a number of major financial institutions and firms in the introduction and ongoing operation of GST and has provided both general taxation (income tax and CGT) and indirect taxation advice (GST, stamp duty and land tax) in relation to complex commercial and property transactions.
He advises in the planning and structuring of commercial and property transactions and in the negotiation and documenting of acquisitions and disposals of assets and business structures. This includes the preparation of preliminary documents, information memoranda, heads of agreement, shareholders agreements, due diligence investigations and the drafting of contracts of sale and commercial agreements.
John provides and advice in estate planning and planning for intergenerational change including documenting of complex business and family succession plans.
John has been the convenor and frequent presenter at regular tax training sessions for legal and accounting practitioners and has been a mentor to legal practitioners in all relevant fields of law in which he practices.
He is a member of the Law Institute of Victorian and a Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia. He holds the following university degrees: Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Laws and Master of Laws.
