Thalia Kalaboukas

Thalia works in our commercial law department with a particular focus on superannuation and financial services.

She works with a diverse client base including accountants, financial planners, trustees and high net-worth individuals. She liaises with regulators on a wide range of superannuation related matters and also assists in advising unions and trustees on the prudential, commercial and taxation issues affecting worker entitlement funds, such as redundancy funds.

Her work has included:

advising on the prudential obligations of trustees under the Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Act and the Corporations Act (including financial services provisions);

advising on the requirements of the Superannuation Guarantee legislation;

tax advice including stamp duty, CGT, GST and FBT;

preparation of documents to establish superannuation and worker entitlement funds and drafting variations to trust deeds for existing funds;

establishment of a new division within a master trust operated by a second tier bank;

drafting and reviewing disclosure material and member communications;

advising on discretionary trusts, unit trusts, companies, complex wills, estate planning and asset protection.

Thalia graduated from Monash University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce. Thalia is a Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia and a member of the Law Institute of Victoria.
